What is Shiatsu?
Shiatsu is a healing therapy from Japan. The word "shiatsu" translates as "finger pressure". In a Shiatsu session, the therapist uses fingers, palms, elbows or knees to apply comfortable, sustained pressure to the body. You wear loose clothing for the session and oils are not used. Shiatsu is a natural therapy which can help to relieve pain and stress, strengthen the body and normailze its fuctions.
What are the benefits of Shiatsu
Shiatsu helps to calm overactive sympathetic nervous functioning and to promote restful, healing parasympathetic nervous functioning. Stiff muscles loosen, circulation improves and tension lessens. The goal of this oriental healing therapy is to restore harmony and balance to the person, thus stimulating one's natural recuperative powers, relieving symptoms, increasing body strength and building a solid foundation so that vitality is restored.
